Sweetwater Mine Dragon Scale Calcite with Chalcopyrite on Matrix – Missouri
$1,600.00

Product Description

A striking Sweetwater Mine Dragon Scale Calcite mineral specimen featuring a single Dragon Scale calcite prominently perched on a substantial matrix richly covered with colorful, iridescent chalcopyrite.

Rather than presenting as an isolated Dragon Scale calcite, this specimen preserves a remarkably aesthetic mineral composition, with the calcite perched within its richly mineralized natural setting.

One of the most intriguing features of this specimen is the chalcopyrite visible within the Dragon Scale calcite itself. In close-up, flashes of metallic color can be seen within the crystal, creating a fascinating visual connection between the calcite and the brilliantly colored mineralization across the matrix.

The calcite displays the distinctive sculptural form associated with Dragon Scale Calcite, with its complex crystal morphology creating a dramatic focal point against the highly textured matrix. Depending on the light and viewing angle, the surrounding chalcopyrite reveals flashes of purple, blue, teal, bronze, and gold.

This is a substantial display specimen with exceptional visual presence. John is shown holding the specimen in one of the photographs to provide an accurate sense of scale.

Pagoda Calcite with Iridescent Pyrite – 3.8 kg Monumental Specimen | Daye, Hubei, China
$2,500.00

Some mineral specimens are impressive because of a single crystal. This one is an entire landscape.

Weighing approximately 3.8 kilograms (8.4 pounds), this extraordinary pagoda calcite with iridescent pyrite from Daye County, Huangshi, Hubei, China is a commanding, highly sculptural specimen whose sheer scale sets it apart.

The formation is covered with an extraordinary abundance of stacked, stepped and tower-like calcite growths—the distinctive architecture that gives pagoda calcite its evocative name. From broad, heavily textured formations to smaller individual towers rising across the surface, the specimen reveals new details from virtually every angle. The result is almost otherworldly: a sprawling mineral cityscape created entirely by nature.

Across the calcite, a fine coating of pyrite produces a remarkable metallic surface with flashes of gold, bronze, green, rose and subtle rainbow iridescence as the light moves across the specimen. The combination of intricate calcite morphology and shimmering pyrite gives the piece tremendous visual depth, with its appearance changing continuously depending upon the viewing angle and lighting.

What makes this specimen especially compelling is its size and completeness. Pagoda calcite specimens from the Daye area are encountered on the mineral market, but examples are commonly far smaller. At approximately 3.8 kg, this is a substantial, display-dominating specimen—and despite its complex, highly textured formation, it is remarkably complete and without notable damage.

This is not simply a large mineral specimen. It is a true statement piece: intricate enough to reward close examination, yet massive enough to command attention from across a room. The combination of monumental size, elaborate pagoda-like calcite growth, extensive iridescent pyrite coverage and exceptional overall condition makes this an unforgettable addition to a serious mineral collection.

Incredible Casteel Mine Drusy Chalcopyrite
$595.00

🌟Looking for another Casteel Mine specimen? A newly available 3.14 kg Casteel Mine chalcopyrite with drusy quartz can be viewed in the Rocksity shop. 🌟

This exceptional Casteel Mine chalcopyrite specimen features richly iridescent chalcopyrite crystallization layered across a sparkling drusy quartz matrix. Naturally tarnished chalcopyrite displays vivid copper-gold, magenta, violet, and bronze tones—hallmarks of this classic Missouri locality.

A fine, sugar-like drusy quartz coating enhances the metallic luster beneath, creating depth, contrast, and shimmer from every viewing angle. The sculptural, mound-like growth gives this piece strong visual presence, making it an excellent choice for collectors who value both aesthetics and mineralogical integrity.

This specimen attracted interest from multiple international collectors during selection; however, due to shipping limitations, it is offered exclusively within the United States. High-quality chalcopyrite specimens from the Casteel Mine are increasingly difficult to source, particularly with intact druse and strong natural coloration.

A striking and uncommon example of Missouri chalcopyrite—selected for its quality, structure, and collector significance.
